A New Status

I. Am. A. Mother.

Wow, that really sounded new to me. I gave birth about 2 weeks ago on Thursday, 2nd October 2014, 18 minutes past midnight. I will never forget that day. But first, I am really thankful for the smooth delivery and that baby and I are both healthy. To be honest, I have not completely recovered yet. The stitches still hurt and I'm wondering when will it stop hurting. :(

Baby was 3.395kg when he was born , 50cm long and head circumference of 34.5cm. When he was finally out, I cried. I' m not quite sure why either but I started crying with my legs wide open and my gynae stitching me up. Yeah not a nice sight to imagine haha.

I had my 39th week appointment on the first of October. When my gynae checked me, I was 3cm dilated. Surprisingly, I didn't even realise or know this cause I didn't feel any pain at all. She told me that I could give birth already (like finally) and sent me to the delivery suite. After bursting my water bag, inducing me and experiencing some nasty contractions, I decided to take the... yes Epidural. Haha life saver that one. The numbing injection before the Epidural was quite painful but after the Epidural's in, I don't feel my contractions anymore. Soon after, I was 10cm dilated and ready to push. Because I couldn't feel any contractions, it was kinda hard for me to push cause I couldn't feel anything much waist down. Took me two hours to push baby out and Alhamdulliah, everything was well.

Baby's name is Maliq Arrayyan. Both names not decided by me. They were decided by Zai and my Dad. Zai has been calling baby 'Maliq' even before we know baby's gender. I think he was influenced by KL Gangster's 'MALEK IS BACK!". -.- As for baby's second name, my dad decided on it because he opened up a sad story on how much he wanted a boy and name him that but he got three girls instead and insisted we name baby that. -.- Okay.

Funny thing is, I specifically told Zai I do not want baby to have English-like common names such as Danial, Danish or Rayyan. Zai agreed with me. Until my dad decided to go all sad about him wanting to name his son Rayyan but didn't have a chance. Because he's my dad, I am willing to let go of my 'no English-like common names' decision but Zai still refused Rayyan. So I compromised with him. He gets to choose Maliq if he allows dad to choose Rayyan. But he wants Ar-Rayyan, okay fine. We'll just remove the hyphen.

Long story but no picture. I'm lazy like that! :/ Okay here's a latest picture of Maliq Arrayyan taken a few hours ago.

Yeah be brave to wake up in the middle of the night crying for milk haha.

And, my house reno is done! Except for some decorative items I've yet to buy and probably some additional things I'll buy along the way. So far I'm happy with the outcome! Will post pictures in the next entry okay? I promise cause I spent a lot of time right before I gave birth, like practically every day, going to the house, monitoring the contractors, buying things and getting things done for the house so I really should talk about the reno. Hopefully I'm not lazy and hopefully soon since I have a crying baby to attend to now. :/

  6. He's such a sweetheart Min! I saw his nursery photos on your fb. Hehe such a tiny thing in such a huge space. I wish I was half as good as you when it comes to decorating. Mine is still as bare as a baby's bottom. I can't wait to see your lovely home.
